Hoodia

What is Hoodia ?
The heralded south African cactus featured on "60 Minutes", "The Today Show", and in Oprah's "O Magazine" is probably the new miracle supplement for safe, effective weight loss for everyone wanting to lose weight.Hoodia gordonii (Hoodia) is an all-natural appetite suppressant known for having no side effects or conflicts that are associated with other weight-loss products.

How Hoodia Works.
It essentially suppresses the appetite by tricking the brain into thinking that you're full when you're not: Scientists explain that the active ingredient in Hoodia works within the hypothalamus, the satiety center of the brain, by releasing a chemical compound similar to glucose, only much stronger. The hypothalamus receives this signal as an indication that enough food has been consumed and therefore suppresses the appetite.

HOW TO PREVENT CORONARY HEART DISEASE: THE IMPORTANCE OF PHYSICAL ACTIVITY

Physical activity also encourages smoking cessation. Smoking is incompatible with aerobic activity since carbon monoxide replaces oxygen in the bloodstream. Furthermore, doing one good thing for your health, such as becoming physically fit, encourages other healthy lifestyle adjustments.
It is for these and other reasons that an effective CHD prevention program includes a physical activity component. As prestigious an organization as the American Heart Association (AHA) recognizes the importance of physical activity in preventing CHD. In 1992, the Committee on Exercise and Cardiac Rehabilitation of the Council on Clinical Cardiology of the AHA published a position paper entitled "Statement on Exercise: Benefits and Recommendations for Physical Activity Programs for All Americans." That AHA statement serves as a good summary of the role physical activity can play in preventing and treating CHD. In it the AHA states that:
Exercise helps control blood lipid abnormalities, diabetes, and obesity.... Inactivity is a risk factor for the development of coronary artery disease.... There is also evidence that physical activity probably alleviates symptoms of mild and moderate depression and provides an alternative to alcoholism and drug abuse.
The AHA goes on to suggest specific activities that are most beneficial:
Activities such as walking, hiking, stair-climbing, aerobic exercise, calisthenics, jogging, running, bicycling, rowing, and swimming and sports such as tennis, racquetball, soccer, basketball, and touch football are especially beneficial when performed regularly. Brisk walking is also an excellent choice.... The evidence also supports the notion that even low-intensity activities performed daily can have some long-term health benefits and lower the risk of cardiovascular disease. Such activities include walking for pleasure, gardening, yard work, house work, dancing, and prescribed home exercise.
